E INNER PEACE THAT REACHES OUT August 10-17th 2008 Nannestad, Norway (just outside Oslo) Skogtun Youth Centre, Myrvang, 2030 Nannestad Tel: 0047 63 99 71 47
Is your inner peace screaming (or gently whispering) to get out and make a difference? If so, this is the event for you!
European and Middle Eastern Young friends invite all young friends (and those interested in Quakers) from the age of 18 and up to join us on this exciting spiritual journey. Starting with the peace within each of us and moving towards learning how to use this peace to make a positive impact on the world and those around us. Through different activities, speakers, and interaction with each other we will explore the idea of infusing our daily lives with peace while making many new friends along the way. Fresh pine trees, clean air, and leisurely walks near the water await you in Nannested, Norway, just a few kilometres from Oslo. The Lutheran youth centre, situated on a hill, has a wonderful view of the area, and full facilities including table tennis, a football field, and horseback riding available to those interested. In their fully equipped kitchen, we will be cooking our own gourmet meals: the menu will include fresh bread and home-made soup for lunch, freshly baked cakes or cookies at teatime, and an exiting warm meal for dinner each day. So, grab a cup of hot chocolate and join us around a cosy fire for some laughter and fellowship!
Is this something that tickles your fancy? If so, you'll find the application form online at http://emeyf.quaker.eu.org In order to ensure you get a place we recommend that you complete and send it off as soon as possible (especially if you need a visa). You can apply online or send the completed form to Rachel Hutcheson quids_inn27@yahoo.co.uk or 124 Mayfield Road, Edinburgh, EH9 3AH, Scotland. Just pick which method suits you best! Also, we want to encourage you to invite your friends who may be interested in hanging out with us and learning more about our theme and young friends in general. Everyone is welcome. Apply early and receive a voucher for a free muffin on arrival! Unfortunately we cannot offer you this fantastic experience for free, although we would love to! We ask for each participant to pay a fee of €142 (£100, 1044 NOK)1 to cover most of the cost of food and accommodation for the week. Don't worry though if you would love to come but can't afford to pay the full amount. We encourage participants to apply to their Yearly or Monthly Meeting for funding first, and EMEYF does also have some funds available to subsidize people. In spirit of the theme of "Reaching Out" we will be donating €2 per participant to Quaker Peace and Social Witness' Post-Yugoslav Reconciliation Project: a wonderful project involved in peace and reconciliation work in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro.
We look forward to seeing you there! In friendship, EMEYF Summer Camp Planning Committee application form1The actual cost of accommodation and food is expected to be around €180 (£127, 1323 NOK) per person, so any additional contributions are very welcome. |
